Frequently Asked Questions
Casement windows are hinged windows that open outward from one side, providing exceptional ventilation and unobstructed views of your surroundings. They are available in various configurations, including top-hung for easy cleaning and side-hung for flexibility, allowing homeowners to choose based on their specific preferences and architectural needs.
At Lancashire Double Glazing, we offer casement windows in three main materials: uPVC, timber, and aluminium. Each material has unique advantages – uPVC is cost-effective and low-maintenance, timber offers natural beauty and insulation, and aluminium provides a sleek aesthetic with strength and durability, ensuring options for every style of home.
Casement windows are designed with precision to create a tight seal when closed, which minimises air leakage and drafts. By offering double or even triple glazing options, these windows significantly improve thermal insulation, helping to keep your home warm in winter and cool in summer, resulting in lower energy bills.
Yes, casement windows feature modern multi-point locking systems and can be reinforced with toughened glass options. This combination provides excellent security, deterring potential intruders and ensuring peace of mind for homeowners while maintaining a stylish appearance.
Absolutely! Our casement windows can be extensively customised in a variety of colours, finishes, and hardware styles to match your home’s architectural aesthetic. This level of personalisation allows you to create windows that truly reflect your taste, enhancing both functionality and kerb appeal.
With proper care and maintenance, high-quality casement windows can last 20-30 years or more. Our premium materials and craftsmanship at Lancashire Double Glazing often lead to windows that may exceed these lifespans, providing excellent long-term value and performance for your investment.
No, casement windows are designed to be minimal maintenance. They typically require only regular cleaning with mild soap and warm water to keep them looking new. Unlike wood frames that need periodic painting or sealing, our uPVC and aluminium options are resistant to weathering and damage from the elements.
The key difference lies in their operation: casement windows open outward on hinges, while sash windows slide vertically within their frame. This distinction can significantly influence the choice depending on factors such as room layout and airflow requirements, especially in spaces with limited square footage.
Flush casement windows are designed to sit flush with the frame when closed, offering a sleek, modern appearance that appeals to contemporary aesthetics. They combine elegance with functionality, making them ideal for homeowners looking to enhance the clean lines and overall visual appeal of their property.
Yes, casement windows can be fitted with a variety of glazing options, including double glazing for standard insulation, triple glazing for enhanced thermal efficiency, and laminated or solar control glass to suit specific needs. This flexibility ensures that the windows meet energy efficiency and safety requirements.
Yes, casement windows are highly versatile and can complement various architectural styles, from traditional cottages to modern homes. Their adjustable configurations and aesthetic adaptability make them an excellent choice for enhancing the look and functionality of any residential property.
At Lancashire Double Glazing, we offer an extensive colour palette, featuring both traditional and contemporary shades. When selecting a colour, consider your home’s exterior design, neighbourhood aesthetics, and personal preferences to ensure the windows blend seamlessly with the overall look of your property.
Multi-point locking systems enhance security by locking the window at several points along the frame, making it significantly harder for intruders to force the window open. This advanced security feature also promotes peace of mind, knowing your home is well-protected while maintaining a stylish and functional design.
Yes, casement windows are specifically designed to open outward, allowing for exceptional airflow and ventilation. They are particularly effective for obtaining fresh air without compromising security, and with trickle vents available, they help reduce condensation and maintain a healthy indoor climate.

CUSTOMER REVIEWS
I have recently been let down with an appointment that had been arranged 10 days in advance for someone to come & look at the latest issue I have with a cold draft coming through my front door to which I received a phone call at lunch time on the same day they are due to attend to say they can no longer attend and that it will be another 10 days before someone can attend unless there is a cancellation, they think it is acceptable to leave customers with drafts coming through their front doors on the coldest months of the year because they are too busy with other jobs, they claim on their website to provide an excellent after care service well I wouldn’t call this an excellent after care service, we shouldn’t have to accept continuous repeated issues with our doors every summer/winter yet alone to have to wait so long for someone to attend to look and fix the issues when they do arise
I wouldn’t recommend this company especially in terms of after care, looking at other recent reviews it seems they are busy concentrating on new installations over after care of previous ones
The install team of Mark, Andy, and Craig, were brilliant. They were polite, respectful, and kept mess to a minimum. Cleaning up after themseves before leaving each day. Whole job took just 5 days, as promised.
I can't speak highly enough of them. The experience far exceeded our expectations.
Would recommend LDG. Thank you to all involved.
I had a very poor experience with Lancashire Double Glazing. I was sold what I was told were 60-minute fire-rated windows and was charged accordingly. I later discovered the windows installed were actually only 30-minute rated, which is completely unacceptable given the safety risks and the price.
When I raised the issue, the company tried to avoid taking responsibility and attempted to get out of putting things right. For something as important as fire safety, this behaviour is shocking.
Based on my experience, I would avoid this company at all costs. If you’ve already had fire windows fitted by them, I strongly recommend double-checking the ratings, as they may not be what you were sold or paid for.
I would particularly like to thank Steve for providing me with affordable quotes and Mark for his professional installation of our house doors.
I am very satisfied with the price, quality, and professional installation services provided.
There were a few glitches on the way especially navigating around my work commitment etc but it worked out in the end. The incorrect window was put in my back door but Owen sorted it out for me straight away.
John & Ethan did an excellent job installing the windows and John was brilliant with Ethan as his apprentice, very impressed
The salesman Kevin was very knowledgeable and helpful.
Also, As opposed to the many door/window sales that come knocking, it was very nice to walk round their showroom to see and feel the different window options (and ask lots of questions) rather than making a decision from a brochure.
Will defo use them again for future window fits.
Would highly recommend
Now im selling my house I realised I never received Fensa certificates, chased them. At first they said one lot hadnt been registered but it would be and I would receive the certificate shortly now they were registering it. When I said I didn't get a certificate for the other job they said I would have to buy one directly from Fensa, when I tried it turned out they hadn't registered that job either, why they claimed they had I dont know but it added a week on the hold up of getting a new EPC as I waited for them both.
Very pleased with the end product.
Carly and her team were first class from start to finish and I would highly recommend anyone to use this company for all there building and glazing needs. Top class service, thanks again Carly!
We would definitely recommend them to other people.
For reference I have built and converted homes for over 30 years now and never had these issues before.
I would fully recommend LDG to anyone.
Each window and door I needed was a different and bespoke size, and every one arrived on site and fitted perfectly, so much so that I am currently in the process of placing new orders with LDG for phase 2 of my build. Very competitively priced and also with a quick turnaround, they were delivered on time.
Highly recommended!
This is a simple 3m by 3.5m extension — two windows, a lantern skylight, and a set of double doors. We were told it would take a matter of weeks. Instead, we've had long periods with no one on site, poor communication throughout, and 3 months on there are still key elements left incomplete.
We're still waiting on:
Tiling to the exterior shell and steps.
Electrical issues (switches not working, spotlights incorrectly positioned).
Damage to the paintwork on the newly installed door and the door not shutting correctly.
Window and door frame finishing.
It has been up to us to chase subcontractors, manage timelines, and clean up after people — none of which we expected when paying a professional company to do a turnkey job.
I’m posting this review in the hope it spurs LDG into finally delivering on the project. We were promised a stress-free, quick build. It has been anything but.
Have used LDG for years, but their after sales service seems to be sadly lacking.
Had windows fitted no problems, but in less than a year one pane had failed, now here comes the comedy show of errors/not being bothered.
First engineer visit to assess fault- no show.
Second visit, faulty window measured and replacement confirmed.
Third visit, cancelled on day of appointment due to faulty replacement (days holiday taken)
Fourth visit, wrong sized window pane brought by fitter.( another days holiday taken)
Please reach out for a solution, starting to think that LDG couldn’t find organise a drinking session in a brewery.
Highly recommended
No high pressure sales technique just good advice and a good price,
Surveying done professionally, both John and Calum fitted the windows to a very good standard, turned up when they said they would and tidied up afterwards.
The plasterer and the sealer were pretty good also.
Would highly recommend LDG.
Signed up and paid deposit, salesman said doubted planning permission needed.
Then huge delay till go ahead.
Builders and fitters great.
Then all went wrong with plasterer that could not plaster!!
Totally ruined.
Then 2 guys came on separate occasions to rectify mistakes.
Still not great.
Cost us alot of money. For a botch job.
Then chased by manager ti pay final amount, No discount and slapped with extra £600,survey fee.
Our conservatory still not right.
Very sad, to put this review together.
THINK BEFORE YOU ORDER FROM
LANCASHIRE DOUBLE GLAZING.
SIMPLE CORDIAL BUSINESS TASK OF INFORMING -UPDATING A SICK PENSIONOR. THAT HE WILL BE HONOURED AND HAVE HIS INSTALLMENTS ON SCHEDULE . ABSOLUTE DISGUSTING ATTITUDE BY LDG.
Highly recommend
The installer Harry was just as professional. Arrived on time, got the job done in a timely manner and left the place clean after. All round great service and would recommend them to anyone asking about doors or windows.
The window fitters Paul and Lauren were excellent. Professional, friendly constantly keeping me in the loop of what they were doing on the day and making sure I agreed. They are an asset to the company. If you want windows/doors just go to the best and that really is LDG. Outstanding!!!
We asked for 30 min notification prior to turning up on three separate occasions and not once did that happen. One day they didn't turn up at all. Once installed they looked great from a distance but when you got closer it was a mess. I'd probably be hopeless at using silicone - but so was whoever did this one. I think 3 out of 6 windows needed silicone taking off and redoing. After the panelling was added and re silicone it did look so much better and they wasted no time in getting things sorted out once notified.
The welds on the frames are somewhat visible where the white has bled on the top of the grey. Most frames covered in transfer . Which all eventually can be filled in with a paint pen and the transfer can be rubbed off with a bit of elbow grease. They shouldn't really leave manufacturers before this is done but that's just my opinion. Some frames were scraped and scratched and handles scratched . These were flagged and these was rectified.
Workmen we're polite and friendly and very easy to get on with. They cleaned up after themselves every shift and worked hard to get things done.
The back door wouldn't lock at all. Had to leave completely unlocked overnight until someone could come and check it. Had to be readjusted and is now fine.
One of the panes of glass on the patio door 'shattered' during installation so we waited around 4 days after the installation was complete for a replacement. Once again no 30 min warning just turned up at the door. As soon as this piece of glass was fitted - like literally 2 whole minutes of leaving the house - the phone then rang from the office asking to settle the invoice . Which is completely and utterly rude to be asking for money after all the crap that went wrong without checking the pane.
Good job we didn't pay as the replacement glass we got had a massive scratch on the inside of the double glazing to which we waited another 2 to 3 days for that replacement.
Finally almost 3 weeks from start date we was at 100% , the windows and doors look brilliant now and it was a definite improvement over how it was before we started. Ultimately when you spend this much money you just expect things to be perfect and right the first time. I can't help but think we could have saved a couple thousand pounds and got the same result if not better somewhere else. It's unfair to give any lower than a 3 and I can't find reason to give any more also.
So I would say use at your own peril but please please check the work over and over again. In 20 years time - if they last that long - I probably wouldn't use this company again unfortunately and I wouldn't recommend to a friend or family . Maybe we just got a bad wave of hiccups based on the other reviews but that's my personal opinion.
