LDG Contracts project is an award winner - LDG Contracts

LDG Contracts, one of the North West’s largest window system design, fabrication and installation companies, and part of The LDG Group, has just announced that a project completed at Devonshire Primary School in Blackpool was an award winner.

The project won a RIBA award and was short listed for the RIBA Schools Award. The RIBA Sorrell Foundation Schools Award, in association with the Sorrell Foundation, is a prize of £5,000 to the architects of the best RIBA award-winning school (primary or secondary) with the aim of raising the standards of design in all new school building. The RIBA Awards are given to buildings for high architectural standards and which make a substantial contribution to the local environment.

The £6.5muillion project for Blackpool Borough Council was designed by architects BDP with F Parkinson Building Contractors Limited being the main contractors on the project and LDG Contracts responsible for the glazing. The £300,000, 12 month glazing project was awarded to LDG contracts based on the company’s excellent reputation of delivering similar high value projects on time and budget in the Lancashire area.

LDG Contracts designed, manufactured, delivered and installed the window systems which included Fxi65 widows, curtain walling and doors all manufactured from technical extrusion at LDG Contracts Preston based new purpose built 20,000 square foot factory, which houses state of the art production machinery that includes a fully automatic CNC saw centre, CNC machine centre, a CNC four headed crimper and one of the most advanced aluminium production plants in the country.

Devonshire Primary School is the first completed building based on the DfES Exemplar Schools for the Future initiative. Known as "The Beehive School", the design develops classrooms shaped like pieces of honeycomb, that interlock around multi-storey playdecks. The RIBA panel described the school as: "a significant step forward in the design of learning environments for young children."
